She did not know it, but even before she wrote the entrance tests or went through the admission interview, her daddy and I had already decided that she would resume at the SPF in January (we allowed her to assume we sought admission for September). After we got the admission offer, we sorted out everything about her admission (her fees were paid, and her uniforms ordered and delivered before her arrival in the UK).

We carefully hid everything from her because we wanted the January resumption to be a pleasant surprise. Week after week, she bugged us that she wanted to resume at the SPF in January. I had a constant answer: “Talk to God about it.” She would then retort, “Mama, I have!”, and in reply, I would say, “Then trust Him, and thank Him in advance.” If only she knew all we were up to! There was never any need for her to worry about resuming in January because it was a part of the plan. She may not have realized it, but she and her siblings were at the centre of our plans, and we had them in mind when we took certain decisions.

God is a much better parent than any of us could ever be. He wants the best for all His children. And here’s the best part: unlike us, He is NOT limited in any way! You were at the centre of God’s plans when He sent Jesus to earth some 2000 years ago. When Jesus hung on the cross, He had you in mind. And guess what? He’s already sorted out everything you need for a fantastic life (John 10:10).

What are your concerns for the year? I’ll say to you what I constantly said to my little girl these past 2 months, “Talk to God about it.” And if you have already prayed, “Then trust Him, and thank Him in advance.” There’s no need to worry or fret, because your worries and fears have been taken care of in God’s plan. You do not need to know all the details, but I can assure you, God has got so many pleasant surprises lined up for you this year if you faithfully walk with Him. It’s in His plan to meet all your needs and give you your heart’s desires if you delight in Him (Ps. 37:4). If you’re still in doubt, look up Jeremiah. 29:11, and you’ll see that it’s in the Father’s plan to bless you and give you an expected end. The next time you are tempted to fret or worry about the future, remember that your areas of concern have been covered in the Father’s plan for you; make the choice to “Trust Him, and thank Him in advance!” Happy New Year!
